Have you ever set a goal and then just not hit the goal? This is the primary reason why people do not bother setting goals in the first place. They fear that if they pick a number, the pressure will be too big and the failure too heavy.
The next reason why people fail to set goals is that they do not know what they want. They kind of know what they want in life, but they do not know what they want for sure. Why? Because they have conflicts. People will oftentimes forget their values in order to get their basic human needs met.
What is going on here? Why do people that have values not live up to their values sometimes? Why are people not executing their goals? Our needs drive us more than our values and our values make us feel alive. We are often in survival mode and we settle for that type of life.

1. Find your purpose
If you are not living a life of purpose, if you do not know who you really are, you will not be able to set goals that will feed your soul.
Some people believe that the word purpose only applies to something spiritual, that it is outside of our control. That might be true for the purpose of creation or the purpose of the big picture but that will not drive you.
It might inspire you for a bit, but it won’t be the fire you need in your soul to keep you driving when things get rough.
A purpose that you choose that is in line with all your spiritual beliefs is the most powerful motivator that can exist.
2. Start planning
If you are prepared with integrity, you will be able to plan and actually get results.
But how does one plan? Most people are not strategists and need to be guided along the planning process.
A good plan is clear and effective and can help you take action even if you are not in the mood.
3. Perform
Most people have no idea how to use a calendar. Learning how to schedule with a checklist, reviewing your calendar, and going deep into the world of time management is imperative for performance.
Next, you need to learn how to work your focus muscle and not make excuses or procrastinate. Understand the brain dump method and how to use energy levels based on context as well as learning methods to say NO!
Once you have the time and the attention taken care of, you must add the secret ingredient that holds the only thing together.
Accountability.
Learning how to leverage courses, books, mentors, coaches, friends, etc. Understanding that you must hold yourself accountable to get other people to hold you accountable. We are socially driven to look good or avoid looking bad. Understand how to use our EGO to drive us forward and our emotions to keep us centered.
Now you are taking action consistently. Why does this work every time? Because you have a deep purpose, a clear plan, and you are performing daily.
